3 Leading Dining Room Trends for 2021
If there is one overall dining room design trend, it’s the same as many other recent interior design trends. You’re spending more time at home and your dining room is playing a bigger role than ever. On that note, let’s get to the trends.
- Doing Double Duty
Your dining table and chairs might have been used more for other things than for eating recently. Like going to school or working from home. Even if those new roles won’t last forever, it’s nice to have a dining room suite that can assume different duties when needed.
That said, we’ve noted a trend to more casual, rustic dining sets. These can include seating options like benches, work like counters in smaller spaces, and even offer shelf and drawer options to store books and staplers.
- Getting Ready for the “New” Normal
We’re all yearning for dinner parties and family gatherings. Many homeowners are opting for larger dining suites to be ready for when they return. That means a shift to more contemporary and modern dining suites with the versatility to change capacity according to the size of the party.
- Enduring Form & Function
Maybe it’s all the extra work that dining areas are getting, but there’s also a marked trend to durable and enduring designs. Exactly the sort of thing you get from a formal design set with a lacquer surface that can handle heat, candlesticks and computers without a scratch.
- Area Rugs
Especially on hardwood and tile floors, area rugs are being used to provide all-day comfort and warmer feet.
