How to Make Your Home Look & Feel Like What You Envision
Why does it always seem like the way we envision our home’s decor is always just a little bit beyond what we have, or what we’re willing to spend? Wouldn’t it be great to have an interior décor like what you see in magazines and online? Well, it’s time to build your own home
décor.
3 Tips to Build Your Home Décor For That Magazine Look
The décors you see on interior design websites aren’t just about spending lots of money. Here are a few ways you can get a similar look without a similar budget.
Remodel the Kitchen and/or Bathroom
OK, we hear you; how is redoing the kitchen and bathroom an easy way to update or build your home décor? You don’t have to completely gut either room to upgrade its look. And, considering how much time you spend in both rooms, upgrades there will pay off more than in other rooms. For you and your guests.
Consider refinishing cabinets, changing the cabinet handles (you’ll be surprised!), replacing countertops, getting new appliances or fixtures, and new lighting options. Whatever you do will be felt and appreciated every time you walk into those rooms.
Create Space
Yes, you have the power to make space where none seems to exist. If there is one thing that adds an appealing “je ne c’est quoi” to home interiors, it is space. To get a better understanding of what we mean, think of it another way. Even if it’s full of top quality furniture and accessories, a crowded space rarely appeals as a look you aspire to.
Even if you have a small dining room or living room, don’t overcrowd it. Look for bedroom furniture with storage under the bed so you can get away without an extra night table. In the living room, if a sectional takes up too much space, try a stylish contemporary sofa and an accent chair.
Find New Lighting Options
Interior lighting designs are exploding with new LED options that do more than just add style. Considering that Toronto homes depend on lighting for much of the day, especially in winter, they can transform the look of everything in the room.
