- Balance Things Up – Sometimes it isn’t what you have in your home that needs updating, but how much of it you have. You’ll be amazed at what hanging a picture here or getting rid of an accessory there will do. Try to look at your room as if it’s the first time, or ask a friend for an unbiased view. Look for open spaces on walls, or check that the flow around the room is easy. Adjust your furnishings to either fill gaps or open up spaces.
- Throw a Pillow – Or two, or more. Depending on the current palette of your room, you can make it look and feel different simply by swapping older throw pillows for new ones. You can do this on the couch in the living room and family room, or on the bed to perk up your entire bedroom furniture suite. If your palette is neutral, try to add some colour. If your palette is colourful, think about adding some monotone texture.
- Put a Scarf On It – Either on the headboard in your bedroom or along the top of your sofa or loveseat, a vintage scarf or throw can add a touch of texture, whimsy and warmth.
- Brighten the Bedroom – Yes, you can add lighting if that helps. But we mean, considering that most bedroom furniture suites are all matching, you can use your linen textures and colour to create a brighter, more interesting ambience.
