4 Small Kids Bedroom Ideas They’ll Love
It can be more difficult to come up with small kids’ bedroom ideas than you think. First, children’s bedrooms are generally smaller than adult bedrooms leaving you with less space to work with.
Second, while you want to have age-appropriate bedroom furniture, you don’t want to replace it in a couple of years. Third, you want to make a child’s room an inspiring place that gives children room to play, create and be themselves.
Bedroom Ideas for Small Children
With that long list of criteria for furnishing a children’s bedroom, here are just a few room ideas.
- Look for Storage Beds – To meet your goals, you have to do a lot in a limited amount of floor space. One way is to look for furniture that can do double-duty. Storage beds make the most of small spaces by offering under-bed storage. They offer a space for extra clothes, toys, books, crafts, whatever; which will help keep the room organized.
- Choose Lighter Colours – We all know lighter colours helps a small space look larger, especially if there isn’t lots of natural light. But remember to have some balance and contrast instead of an uninspiring monotone white. Also consider fun options like painting one wall with chalkboard paint, which gives the kids a place to scribble on the wall without causing you too much stress.
- Try Nesting Tables – Kids need lots of surfaces, but that’s not easy in small rooms. Nesting tables that can stack one on top of the other are a great way to have different surfaces for different activities while not using as much room space.
- Use the Walls – If you want to make sure there’s lots of good light to read in bed, consider a wall-mounted lamp instead of a floor or desk lamp. And you can use wall-mounted bookshelves versus one that sits on the floor.
