It’s our favourite time of year! And not for the usual reasons of making merry and getting into the spirit of giving. As every New Year dawns, we love checking out the home decorating websites and journals to see what everyone predicts the décor trends will be for the New Year.
Here are just a few that are popping up more often than others.
5 Home Décor Trends for 2020
- Coastal Colours – Think beachy blues, sunshine yellows and seafoam greens for everything from walls to bedroom furniture, with reddish coral and dusty rose for highlights.
- Vertical Gardens – As the condo market continues to boom in Toronto, vertical living is the trend. And the trend brings living nature into the concrete jungle with vertical planters for some real greenery in your décor palette.
- Art Deco – Does art deco ever really go out of style? The classic early 20th-century design style keeps on inspiring new generations. This time around, look for it in lighting fixtures of all kinds, from ceiling lights to table lamps.
- Geometric Designs – We’re seeing them everywhere for 2020. From graphic patterns on ceramic tile (a stone, granite or marble pattern is so 2019!) in bathrooms and kitchens, to herringbone layouts for hardwood floors, look for lots of angles next year.
- Intricate Backsplash Designs – Whether it’s the aforementioned geometric patterns or vintage designs, the trend here is to bring backsplashes into the foreground of the décor of your kitchen. We’re amazed at how long the monotone backsplash managed to stay relevant for such a long time. But it’s not like we’re sad to see it go!
