3 Ideas for Decorating A Blank Wall in Your Home
Most homes have one. Unless you’re an interior decorator trained in bringing together every corner of a space, you’ll probably have at least one wall, or section of a wall, that you’ve never been able to fit into the rest of your design. It’s like the ‘black hole’ of your décor.
You may have tried hanging a picture, but you could never find one that was the right size or format. And maybe the blank section of wall is just off centre, or not large enough to lend itself well to the usual decorating ideas.
While it would be really something if we were able to solve your particular blank-wall problem in this blog post, hopefully, the following ideas will at least get you thinking about different ways you can turn that bare spot into a more attractive part of the room.
1. Hang a Mirror
If your wall space is blank because it just doesn’t quite ‘fit’, or nothing fits it, then mirrors offer one of the most versatile options, in terms of shapes, sizes, and styles, for finding something that works. It might not suit your tastes, but if you can’t find a mirror to fit a wall space, then you have a particularly tough decorating job.
2. Add a Tall Plant
If you don’t have one already, a larger, taller potted plant will not only fill up space but make the air smell fresher, add a splash of natural greenery and generally give the room a warmer feel and more interesting appearance.
3. Use a Curio Cabinet, Accent Chest or Console
Being taller, a handsome curio cabinet might solve your problem all by itself. But chests and consoles will likely need something on the wall above them to fill the blankness. So why will a wall hanging work above a chest or curio on a wall that it hasn’t worked before? The console helps to balance the painting, artwork or object so that, even if it was too small before, it will work with a console below it.
